Fashion Runway

Fashion Runway

I’m back in the runway with Fashion Designers in the kingdom, and what a difference between this collections and this FRER Choreographed shows of the years. Where that one was kinetic, a performance that took up much of stages cavernous space featuring models and professional in smart, colorful separates with the efficiency of Avant and Filipino traditional wardrobe, this one was almost a requiem.

Some of the giant room was pitch dark and almost empty, save for a single row of chairs and spotlights illuminating the space in front of them. “Fashion is life-enhancing, and I think it’s a lovely, generous thing to do for other people.”

“Be reasonable, demand the impossible.” quoting Jacobs wrote that he was heartbroken, saying, “I continue to learn from your words, and all of your extraordinary creations.”

The “tit tops” of LEO STYLES, in which she twisted t-shirt fabric into many form were reinterpreted as casual knit leotards and nipped and tucked sheath dresses. Here, the romantic silhouettes that Allen Evangelista lifted from old master drawings with his ideas, got a Barong to be called Modern Barongs. Emil still on track on his undying passion to always unlimited your idea when you want something, or by dressing models in beaded and studs dramatically framing their faces. A few of the models walked past with their defiant audacity. Of course. Ramil Tolentino with his gallant occasional Barongs and Efren Sismundo on his extra ordinary creation, I may say Futuristic Art..

Long-line coats with the geometric patchworks of quilts may not be of direct lineage, but their MEG punk ethos. They’re special pieces, not precious because of the materials Meg used—they actually looked quite humble—but because of their remarkable handwork.

For Rikki Molina each shows is special as if everyone is entitled, he believe that fashion is for everyone. This time around there was all that plus tone-on-tone traditional, tribal, and cultural signature, laces that are all meaningful, and pattern that melts in your eyes. Tinged with sadness, yes, but also life-enhancing.
